“Salacus 9” is what is left of New America, and one of the few cities still standing. In a nutshell, this is a post-apocalyptic tale about a commando tech, being released from prison as a bondservant. His new master is a woman named Shaya, who happens to know a little too much about his abilities. He ends up with a simple choice of either going back to jail or else committing an even bigger crime than the one that landed him in the cell in the first place. I like this world in that it is like two worlds in one: the desert world and then the city life. The people are pretty simple too. Basically, you have three kinds: laborers, schemers, and victims. If you want to be left alone, you find your work in the desert. If you want to make it to the top, you scheme, (not a nice crowd). And if you get stuck in the “mechanics” of the world, well then, you’re a victim as well as the most common. This is a story about a person who gets tired of being the victim and wants the forth option: End game. “Salacus” is told in episodes and I hope to have one done in the near future.
